Payment and Insurance Policy

Light the Way Counseling sees clients on a self-pay basis. The cost for individual counseling services is $160 for a 45-minute session and $195 for a 60-minute session. We have a few reduced fees available. Please ask our Intake Team if you are eligible.

A FAST START option for your first visit ranges from 90 minutes for individuals for $320 to 120 minutes for couples or families for $390. Though we are not in-network with insurance companies, you can file with your insurance and request reimbursement for an out-of-network provider.

We need an active credit card and all forms completed before your first session.

Payments are made at the time of your appointment.

Your therapist is honored to work with you. They have reserved the time and space to meet with you. If you need to change your appointment, please let us know 48 hours or more before your appointment. Otherwise, we need to charge for the missed session.

Why We Are Not In-Network With Insurance?

We are asked why we are not in-network with insurance.

We believe confidentiality is of the utmost importance in working with clients. The insurance companies are privy to your health information and may require us to show them your file. Most insurance companies require that clinicians file using an electronic medical record program. Releasing private information to a third party or insurance company increases the risk of exposing the client’s information.

Also, if you or your child needs a federal background check, such as joining the military or wanting to be a pilot, your personal information may be obtained through insurance. We want to offer the highest protection of your private mental health information.

When filing with insurance, they require a mental health diagnosis for the client. Not everyone seeking counseling has a mental health diagnosis that the insurance companies reimburse. By not billing insurance, we can meet clients’ needs without labeling them with a mental illness for an outside company.

Rather than allowing insurance companies to dictate your treatment, we would like to have a collaborative process with you regarding your treatment. For example, some insurance plans choose the length of treatment, number of sessions, or duration of sessions. By not filing insurance, your therapist can offer the most effective treatment instead of allowing insurance to determine treatment options.

We want your time with us to be confidential. We also provide the highest quality of care.
